Lane restrictions

Ohio Department of Transportation said there will be lane restrictions on U.S. Route 422 in either or both directions, east and west, until further notice in Girard. The restrictions will be from the Interstate 80 East entrance and exit ramps to the Mahoning County line.

The work is a part of a $1.8 million project to resurface Route 422. There will be minor widening and limited curb and sidewalk replacement.

Also, in Salem, state Route 14 will have various lane restrictions in either or both directions from Cunningham Road to Lisbon Road for resurfacing work beginning today.

The work is the beginning of a $900,000 project to resurface of Route 14 from Cunningham to Lisbon and state Route 446 from state Route 46 to U.S. Route 224. Both projects are expected to be complete by October.

Location change

Ellsworth

The location of the Ellsworth Township trustees meeting today has been moved from the Town Hall to the Fire Hall. The meeting will be at 7 p.m.

Victorian concert

MERCER, pa.

The Mercer Community Band will present a Victorian concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday on the Mercer County Courthouse Square.

The guest vocal soloist is Daniel Doty and the guest instrumental soloist is Andrew Barnes. James and Sylvia Kalal will provide warm-up entertainment at 6 p.m.

The Eastern Star Chapter 180 will host an ice cream social from noon to 9 p.m. on the square. In the event of rain, the concert will be at Mercer High School.

The community band also will perform at 6 p.m. Sunday at Buhl Farm Park in Hermitage, Pa.

Historical Day

NORTH BLOOMFIELD

The Bloomfield Historical Society will present Historical Day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in the Township Park at the intersection of state Routes 45 and 87.

The event will feature country-western vocalists, exhibits in Town Hall, an antique/classic truck, car and tractor show and a green-powered hit-n-miss engine. Old fashioned ice cream will be made.

A Chinese auction is set for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the pavilion and an Amish wedding dinner will be served from noon to 2 p.m. in the Methodist Church. For information, call 440-685-4758.

A farmer’s market will be open from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday in the parking lot of Centenary United Methodist Church, 40 S. Market St.

Circus at Eastwood

Niles

The Carson & Barnes Circus begins performing today in the Eastwood Field Parking Lot. The 74th edition of the traditional big-top circus will have shows at 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. today and Thursday.

Trapeze artists, elephants and clowns, among other attractions will be on site. Tickets are $18 for adults and $10 for children under the age of 12.
