Three Mahoning Valley college baseball players will participate in tonight’s Great Lakes Summer Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Game.
Patrick O’Brien, Jason Bagoly and Mark Lapikas play for the Stark County Terriers.
O’Brien is a 2009 graduate of Boardman High School and pitches for Bowling Green State University. In his freshman season, the Falcons shared the Mid-American Conference’s East Championship with Kent State University.
In 26 appearances, O’Brien compiled a 4-3 record and made six saves. With the Terriers, he’s 2-2 with four saves in nine appearances.
Bagoly is a 2009 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School and is a catcher for Kent State. In his freshman year with the Golden Flashes, Bagoly batted .293 in 32 games. For the Terriers, he’s batting .311 with an .405 on-base percentage in 20 games.
Lapikas is a 2008 graduate of Ursuline High School and plays first base for the Toledo Rockets. In his second year at Toledo, Lapikas batted .256 in 20 games. For the Terriers, he’s batting .246 with a .347 on-base percentage in 20 games.
