Deputy shoots man while serving warrant

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Authorities say a sheriff’s deputy shot a man in the arm while serving an arrest warrant just outside Pittsburgh.

It happened around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in Penn Hills.

Police say the Allegheny County Sheriff’s deputies were trying to take two men into custody, but one of them resisted.

Police Superintendent Charles Moffatt says a scuffle ensued and one of the deputies fired one shot, hitting the man in the left arm.

The suspect was treated at a hospital.

Sheriff William Mullen says the shooting is under investigation.
