Beaver Township police arrested two men suspected of burglarizing a New Buffalo Road home just north of state Route 165 Tuesday afternoon.

The occupants of the house weren’t at home, but a neighbor noticed a car he didn’t recognize in the driveway and called police.

He told authorities that he saw two men get into the car and drive west on state Route 165 and decided to follow them in his own vehicle. He telephoned police as he followed the pair, giving updates on their location, but lost the vehicle as it headed north on Washingtonville Road.

Lt. Kalman Adorjan said he was westbound on Western Reserve Road when the suspects’ vehicle passed him headed east. He turned around and stopped the car, but it then fled. Adorjan followed it to the intersection of Sharrott and Calla roads where the two occupants got out and fled into a wooded area.

Police set up a perimeter, called in a canine unit and caught the two men a short time later in a mobile home park on Woodworth Road.

Adorjan declined to release the names of the men, but said they were being held in Mahoning County jail pending arraignment.

A laptop computer and a portable safe taken in the burglary were found in the suspects’ car. Cash taken in the burglary wasn’t immediately recovered, Adorjan said.
