NORTH LIMA

An appliance recycling drive will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Beaver Township recycling center, 601 W. South Range Road. Refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, stoves, air conditioners and dehumidifiers will be accepted. Freon removal will be free.

The event is being sponsored by the Green Team, the recycling division of Mahoning County government.

Two city men remain on the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force’s “Dangerous Dozen” Flier updated for this month.

Michael Anthony, 30, a convicted sex offender, is wanted for a registration violation. Christopher Williams, 30, is wanted for a firearms violation.

The Marshal’s Service will update the flier monthly. Three people featured last month were apprehended with tips from the public.

If you’ve seen any of those on the flier, you are asked to call 1-866-4WANTED.

I-80 restrictions

Ohio Department of Transportation announced there will be nightly traffic restrictions starting at 7 p.m. for resurfacing on Interstate 80 eastbound and westbound from Bell Wick Road to the Pennsylvania state line until further notice. That section also will have lane restrictions for bridge repairs.

This is part of a $7 million project from east of Bell Wick Road to the Pennsylvania state line and includes minor bridge work at locations along I-80. The project should be completed by August.

Altercation at club

Austintown

A Canton man said he was run down by two men in the Babylon Gentlemen’s Club parking lot.

The 26-year-old victim said at 4:45 p.m. Saturday, he was involved in an altercation with the suspects after they shouted racial slurs at him, according to a police report.

He told police he and two friends were in the club’s parking lot when the suspects got into a silver and red Ford Thunderbird and drove toward the victim at high speed, striking him.

The victim kicked out the driver-side window as the car approached then fell to the ground and was run over, the report stated. The suspects fled the parking lot. Police were unable to locate the vehicle.

More than 20 cats removed from home

Mayor Terry Stocker said the Mahoning County Board of Health has been asked to inspect a State Street home, located within a block of city hall, where on Monday a dog and 27 cats in the house, some in crates, were found after neighbors complained about the smell.

Mayor Terry Stocker said Animal Charities of Mahoning County went to the home about 1 p.m. Monday to remove the animals.

“I guess the inside of the house is in deplorable condition. We’ll just have to wait and see how this plays out today. We’re still gathering information,” Stocker said.

YPD following leads

Youngstown

Police believe that the death of a West LaClede Avenue man Friday was the result of a drug-related robbery.

Dustin Jordan, 39, was shot on an enclosed porch at the rear of his home just before 11 p.m. Friday. He died less than an hour later in St. Elizabeth Health Center. Jordan was able to make his way to a neighbor’s home for help before he collapsed, police said.

Police Chief Jimmy Hughes said Monday that detectives are following leads in the case but no arrests have been made. The investigation indicates Jordan was shot during a robbery that was drug-related, he said.

Drug charges

Police charged Carol Jefferson, 57, of the 3000 block of McGuffey Road, with possession of drugs-marijuana, drug paraphernalia, criminal damaging and criminal trespass after they found her car parked in a yard in the 3500 block of Belmont Avenue about 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police found Jefferson to be disoriented. In the car, in plain view, police found a marijuana pipe, a small bag of marijuana and two other marijuana pipes.

Jefferson was released on $9,025 bond and will appear today in Girard Municipal Court.

Reckless endangering

hermitage, Pa.

Police charged a man with reckless endangering after he ran a police checkpoint Saturday, they said.

Charged with eight counts is David McClain, 21, of North Neshannock Road in Hermitage.

Police said McClain drove through the checkpoint at Neshannock Road and East State Street at 2:33 a.m., causing several police officers to scatter or take evasive action. No one was hurt.

Police said McClain fled to his residence, and he would not answer the door.

Police said they filed the charges Monday.

Car hits pedestrian

COITSVILLE

A 33-year-old Youngstown man was struck by a car while walking eastbound in the roadway of U.S. Route 422 at 7:30 p.m. Monday between Kendis Circle and Woodland Avenue.

Andre Roberts, of Kendis Circle, was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center for treatment. The driver of the eastbound car was Carl Anderson, 55, of Youngstown. The accident is still under investigation and no charges have been filed, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Forged prescription

Canfield

A township man was charged by Canfield police with attempting to purchase Vicodin with a fake prescription.

Raymond Gutierrez, 43, of N. Palmyra Road, was charged July 8 with illegal processing of drug documents after he dropped off a prescription, forged with his doctor’s name, at Giant Eagle Pharmacy in Canfield.

A store pharmacist contacted the doctor’s office and confirmed that the prescription was forged, according to a police report.

Motorcyclist hurt

hermitage, pa.

A man was hurt after being thrown from his motorcycle. Hermitage police said the accident happened at 1:30 p.m. Saturday on East State Street near Dutch Lane.

A car driven by Frances Moretti, 77, of North Darby Road in Hermitage turned into a store parking lot, cutting off the eastbound motorcycle driven by Christopher Boughner, 21, of Cassidy Drive in Mercer, police said. Boughner’s motorcycle hit the side of the car. He was not wearing a helmet. He was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown. The hospital said it had no record of his admission.

Police said no charges have been filed, but the investigation continues.

Girl stabs man

YOUNGSTOWN

A Youngstown man, believed to be 18 or 19, was in stable condition late Monday in a local hospital after being stabbed by a 16-year-old girl in the 3100 block of Idewood Avenue just before 4 p.m. The suspect was arrested and was incarcerated in Mahoning County Juvenile Justice Center, police said.
