Congressional hearing on Delphi retirees ends

CANFIELD — Members of the U.S. House Financial Services Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee heard testimony today from Delphi Corp. salaried retirees, who said they have been devastated by cuts to their pensions.

The subcommittee held a hearing today in the Canfield High School auditorium.

Bruce Gump, head of the Warren Legislative Council’s Delphi Salaried Retiree Association, said that Delphi, General Motors and the U.S. Treasury Auto Task Force viewed him and the other retirees as, “Nothing but a commodity to be thrown out like yesterday’s trash.”

The hearing ran from 9:15 to about 11:15 a.m. today.
