Many cats found in ‘deplorable’ Struthers home

Mayor Terry Stocker said the Mahoning County Board of Health has been asked to inspect a State Street home, located within a block of city hall, where on Monday a dog and 27 cats in the house, some in crates, were found after neighbors complained about the smell.

Mayor Terry Stocker said Animal Charities of Mahoning County went to the home at about 1 p.m. Monday to removed the animals.

“I guess the inside of the house is in deplorable condition. We’ll just have to wait and see how this plays out today. We’re still gathering information,” Stocker said.
