The Boardman High School girls basketball team of 1919 was a most remarkable collection of women. They sat for the portrait at left in 1919, and five of the six gathered for a reunion 66 years later in the Homestead House restaurant in Boardman where the team photo hung on the wall. The sixth, Emma Reed, was in Florida and couldn’t attend. Pictured above at the reunion in 1985 were, seated from left, Florence Guy, Minnie Zimmerman and Gus Geis; standing, Muriel Bair and Grace Luce. Zimmerman was the youngest at 81; Guy the oldest at 86. In the team photo is George Barton, the school principal and team coach.
