YOUNGSTOWN

The following streets will be closed between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. today because of the Tour of the Valley bicycle race:

Federal Plaza, from Symphony Place to Champion Street; Champion, from Federal Plaza to Boardman Street; Boardman, from Champion to Market Street; Market, from Boardman to Front Street; Front, from Market to Vindicator Square; Vindicator Square/Symphony Place, from Front to Federal Street.

The village will close the section of Washington Street between Robinson Street and the intersection of Pine and Vine streets from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday to allow village crews to clean ditches and complete berm work.

Motorists should find an alternate route during the work hours.

Passport costs increase Tuesday

YOUNGSTOWN

Passport prices will increase nationwide Tuesday.

The cost of an adult passport will jump from $100 to $135, and the cost for minors under age 16 is up $20 to $105. Renewing an adult passport also will increase in price to $110.

Adult passports are valid for 10 years, and those for minors are valid for five years.

Passport application fees are used to cover the cost of producing the passport, and also emergency services for American citizens overseas, such as those caught in the earthquake in Haiti or who have been victims of crime, according to the State Department website.

Tire cleanup

Youngstown Litter Control and Recycling received a $36,500 grant through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to clean up about 30,000 to 40,000 tires illegally dumped on the 800 block of Wilson Avenue between Farnbauer and Queen streets on the city’s East Side.
