Toronto 1, Colorado 0
TORONTO
Toronto FC extended its franchise-record unbeaten streak to 11 games, beating the Rapids on Fuad Ibrahim’s goal in the 61st minute. Toronto has not lost a game in all competitions since May 1, a run that includes a title win in the Nutrilite Canadian Championship. Toronto also has an eight-game unbeaten streak in MLS and has not lost any of its eight games at BMO Field, where 21,836 fans took in Saturday’s game under sunny skies. Colorado arrived in Toronto riding a six-game unbeaten streak, the franchise’s best start to a season in more than a decade. The Rapids beat Toronto 3-1 in their only other meeting of the year, at home on April 18. Toronto lumbered through the opening few minutes of game, which began at noon, earlier than any home contest this season. Captain Dwayne De Rosario generated Toronto’s best chance of the first half. He set up with time and space 30 yards from goal in the 31st minute, and blasted a shot that nearly skimmed the crossbar. Rapids forward Conor Casey narrowly missed on a pair of good chances in the first half. He was inches from connecting of a header on a cross from the wing in the 14th minute, and sent a redirection wide left soon afterward. De Rosario appeared to get knocked down from behind in the box five minutes into the second half, but did not draw a call from referee Ricardo Salazar. De Rosario raised his palms in frustration again five minutes later, after sending a weak rolling shot on net.
Earthquakes 2, Union 1
CHESTER, Pa.
Arturo Alvarez scored in the 91st minute to lead San Jose. Cornell Glen also scored for the Earthquakes (6-4-4), who won for the first time since May 22. San Jose had been 0-2-3 in its last five matches. Fred scored for the Union (3-8-2), who lost for the first time at home this season. Philadelphia was 2-0-1 in three previous home matches — one at PPL Park, its new stadium, and two at Lincoln Financial Field, home of the Eagles. The Union held a 1-0 advantage for much of the first half after Fred notched his second goal of the season in the 14th minute. Rookie Danny Mwanga was credited with the assist. San Jose tied it at 1 just before stoppage time expired in the first half. Chris Wondolowski sent a cross to Glen, who one-timed it past Philadelphia goalkeeper Chris Seitz.
United 0, Red Bulls 0
HARRISON, N.J.
Goalkeepers Bouna Coundoul of the New York Red Bulls and Troy Perkins of D.C. United each made one good save. The draw allowed the Red Bulls (8-5-2) to extend their unbeaten streak to five games (3-0-2). After a miserable start, D.C. United (3-9-3) has two wins and three ties in its last six games. Coundoul made his big save early. Santino Quaranta ran onto a long pass and blistered a hard low shot that the goalkeeper knocked away with his hands. Perkins’ outstanding save came in the 23rd minute. He knocked a looping 35-yard direct kick by Juan Pablo Angel over the top of the crossbar.
