The following streets will be closed between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Sunday because of the Tour of the Valley bicycle race:
Federal Plaza: from Symphony Place to Champion Street.
Champion Street: from Federal Plaza to Boardman Street.
Boardman Street: from Champion to Market streets.
Market Street: from Boardman to Front streets.
Front Street: from Market Street to Vindicator Square.
Vindicator Square/Symphony Place: from Front to Federal streets.
Motorcycle fatality
LIBERTY
Shannon Heeter, 34, of Austintown, died Thursday night in St. Elizabeth Health Center of injuries suffered when she lost control of her motorcycle Wednesday night on Interstate 80 just east of the Belmont Avenue exit.
Heeter was westbound on I-80 at about 9:30 p.m. when she went off the highway, hit a guardrail and was thrown from her motorcycle, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. She was not wearing a helmet.
Tax bills mailed

Second-half real-estate tax bills have been mailed to owners of some 166,000 Mahoning County land parcels, the county treasurer’s office has announced. The deadline to pay without penalty is Aug. 6. Those who don’t receive their bills by Friday should contact the treasurer’s office to request copies of bills, County Treasurer Lisa A. Antonini said.
Power outage
Some 6,000 First- Energy customers in portions of Austintown, Mineral Ridge, Niles, Girard and Warren lost power for more than an hour Friday when a breaker failed at the Niles substation, said Robin Patton, power company spokesman. She said the outage occurred at 1:55 p.m. and power was restored by 3 p.m.
Burglary at office
YOUNGSTOWN
Burglars got away with about $1,300 worth of items from a citizens crime-prevention office on Oak Street.
The office’s supervisor discovered the break-in about 7:30 a.m. Thursday. The office’s front door was kicked in, and burglars took a lawn mower, two weed trimmers, a lawn blower and a new piece of gray carpet, according to a police report.
Marijuana program

First Unitarian Universalist Church, 1105 Elm St., will sponsor a program on marijuana Monday. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the program at 7.
Among questions to be addressed will be: Why is marijuana illegal? Is it hazardous to our health or medicinal?
Panelists include state Rep. Robert Hagan of Youngstown, D-60th, co-sponsor of a bill that is pending before the Ohio House of Representatives that would legalize medical use of marijuana; Jamie See from the Ohio chapter of National Organization for the Reformation of Marijuana Laws; and Sgt. Scott Weimer, Canfield Police Department and former pharmacist. They will discuss the spectrum of issues related to the role of marijuana in our society. Light refreshments are available; donation is $3.
Bike blessing

God’s Haven of Rest, 51966 state Route 14, will conduct its second annual bike blessing Sunday. Services will begin at 11 a.m. and include a skit by the drama team, music and guest speaker, Pastor Tim Collins of North Carolina. A luncheon will follow.
