Neighbors | Shaiyla Hakeem .Since the Canfield library summer reading theme is "Make a Splash, Read," Banjo the clown sprayed his audience with a water gun during his magic show Monday.

Noise and water do not belong in the library, but were tolerated this time for a special magic show.

Banjo the clown visited the Canfield library June 21 to kick off its summer reading program. The program’s theme is “Make a Splash, Read” and has several activities planned throughout the summer.

Banjo splashed his audience with a water gun during his performance and used water in some of his tricks.

He said it was it was a rare opportunity for kids to make noise and get soaked in the library.

More than 100 residents showed up to see Banjo in action. He urged kids to read and said he learned most of his tricks from books he read at the library.

This was Banjo’s first performance at the Canfield library. He has been performing for more than 10 years.

The reading program is sponsored by Canfield Friends of the Library. Marlene Braunlich, president of the group, said it is looking for new members and new ideas for future programs.
