Indians' Cabrera to play for Scrappers on Monday and Tuesday
Indians shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera, who fractured his left forearm on May 18, will begin his minor league rehab assignment with the Scrappers on Monday and Tuesday at Eastwood Field.
"We're extremely excited to have our first major league rehab assigment in Mahoning Valley since 2004," said Scrappers GM Dave Smith. "Especially to have someone the caliber of Asdrubal Cabrera, that's certainly going to be exciting for fans to come watch him play for a couple months."
Cabrera would be the first Indian to do a rehab stint with Mahoning Valley since Lou Merloni in 2004. John McDonald did a stint in July of 2003. Also, David Delucci took batting practice with the team over Labor Day weekend in 2007.
