Police kill dog running loose, chasing child
CARLISLE, Pa. (AP) — Police have shot and killed a pit bull that they say was charging at them and at one point chasing a child.
Carlisle police say the pit bull was running loose Thursday and charging at people when officers tried to subdue it. One officer shot the dog in the leg, but police say the dog continued to be aggressive.
The dog was shot four times and then ran under a deck and died.
Police say the dog had gotten out of its yard through an unlocked gate. Authorities cited the dog’s owner for not properly securing the animal.
