Police ID suspect shot by officers in S.W. Pa.

WASHINGTON, Pa. (AP) — Police say a man shot and killed by officers led police on a 15-minute car chase through three southwestern Pennsylvania municipalities.

Authorities identified the suspect as 42-year-old Kelly Duane Smith. Police shot and killed him Wednesday after investigators say he fled from officers near Washington and crashed his sedan.

No officers were shot in the encounter, but several received minor injuries in the pursuit. Authorities say a female passenger jumped from Smith’s vehicle during the pursuit and received minor injuries. They say she is cooperating with police.

The incident remains under investigation.
