POLICE CALLS
A summary of police activity in the city of Canfield and Austintown:
CANFIELD
June 27
Drugs: Police arrested Johnathan Kane, 20, of 2261 N. Ellsworth Ave., Salem, on charges of drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia, and Craig Stout, 21, 966 S. Lundy Ave., Salem, on a charge of drug abuse after a traffic stop at state Route 446 and Lisbon Street. Both were in possession of suspected marijuana.
June 28
Deception: Police issued an arrest warrant for Angela Spoon, 29, of 366 W. Maryland Ave., Sebring, on three counts of deception to obtain dangerous drugs after visiting multiple doctors and obtaining prescriptions for controlled substances from them. Spoon is accused of obtaining 108 prescriptions for controlled substances or dangerous drugs from 52 different physicians and using 31 different pharmacies to fill the prescriptions.
Warrant: Police arrested Marcus Teague, 21, of 571 Almyra Ave., Youngstown, on a warrant for failure to appear for a court hearing. He was arrested at East Main Street and the Colonial Plaza.
Drug abuse: Police charged James McGarry Sr., no age listed, 67 Lisbon St., with drug abuse after police found a suspected marijuana cigarette in his ash tray after a traffic stop.
July 5
Drug abuse: Police charged Joshua Hott, 22, of 1169 W. Perry, Salem, and Derrick Faulkner, 26, of 610 E. 4th St., Salem, for drug possession. They both had several pills in their possession without prescriptions. The arrest was at West Main Street and Palmyra Road.
Warrants: Police arrested Latoya Griffin, 26, of Pasadena Avenue, Youngstown, on warrants for failure to appear and assault.
AUSTINTOWN
June 28
Criminal damaging: A key was used to damage a vehicle’s exterior in the rear lot at the Salvation Army, 5474 Mahoning Ave.
Attempted theft: Minor damage was reported to a key deposit box at Penske Truck Leasing, 350 Victoria Road.
Warrant: Police arrested Carl Fisher, 29, of 50 Westminster Ave., Apt. 2, at his home on a warrant for failure to appear for a court hearing.
Theft: A Cortland man reported he went to the Walgreens in Warren to pick up a prescription and he was told the prescription for Hydrocodone had been picked up and signed for by him at the Austintown store. He said he never picked up the prescription.
Theft: A 16-foot aluminum ladder, a leaf blower and a 50-foot extension cord were stolen from a job site at a home in the 100 block of Forest Hill Drive.
Theft: Police arrested Frederick Haibon, 29, Naples, Fla., for theft of $205 worth of items at Walmart, 6001 Mahoning Ave.
Telecommunications harassment: A Hamman Drive woman reported a man called her several times, first to tell her she had won a lot of money and then called back several days later and said he wanted to have sex with her.
Recovered property: A man reported recovering numerous items, including car radios, GPS system and change that had been stolen from his home in the bushes in the 500 block of Westgate Boulevard.
Telecommunications harassment: A woman in the 100 block of Rosemont Drive reported receiving a harassing phone call from her stepfather.
June 29
Criminal damaging: Police charged Paul Wright, 19, of DeHoff Drive, Austintown, with criminal damaging and obstruction of justice after his arrest in the 2000 block of Innwood Drive.
Theft: Cash and a Compaq computer were stolen from an auto in the 6000 block of North Meridian Road.
Warrant: Police arrested Daniel Paris, 24, of 327 N. Roanoke Ave., on a warrant for domestic violence at his home.
Warrant: Police arrested Leann Gilliam, 44, of 2707 Hamilton St., Warren, on a warrant charging him with obstructing justice. The arrest took place in the 3000 block of North Niles-Canfield Road.
June 30
Criminal damaging: Water was put into a vehicle gas tank in the 3000 block of Canfield Road.
Theft: A Kodak digital camera was taken from an auto in the 4000 block of New Road.
Recovered property: A mountain bike was recovered at a home in the 2000 block of South Four Mile Run Road.
Theft: Money and compact discs were taken from an auto parked at a home in the 2000 block of Evelyn Road.
Theft: An iPod was taken from an auto parked at a home in the 2000 block of Evelyn Road.
Theft: Compact discs, coins and a DeWalt Power Pack were taken from an auto parked at a home in the 2000 block of Evelyn Road.
Counterfeit currency: A counterfeit $20 bill was passed at Burger King, 5310 Mahoning Ave.
Theft: An unidentified man was seen stealing an Xbox 360 controller valued at $49.99 at Kmart, 4475 Mahoning Ave.
Theft: A GPS device and money were stolen from an auto parked at a home in the 4000 block of Maureen Drive.
Felonious assault: A man struck a male victim with a vehicle and fled the area at Quaker Steak and Lube, 5800 Interstate Blvd.
Theft: A theft of a Wii remote was reported at Game Stop, 5515 Mahoning Ave.
July 1
Drug offense: Police arrested Rhonda Dohre, 37, of 321 Atlantic St., NW, Warren, in the 5000 block of Seventy-Six Drive and charged her with possession of drug abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia.
Theft: Change and a phone charger were stolen from an auto parked at a home in the 5000 block of Oakcrest Drive.
Theft: A cell phone and change were stolen from an auto in the 1000 block of Pimlico Drive.
Theft: A Dell laptop computer and a cell phone were stolen from an auto parked at a home in the 5000 block of New Road.
Recovered property: A woman’s purse was returned to the victim at UniMart, 890 N. Canfield-Niles Road.
Theft: Miscellaneous change was stolen from the console of an auto parked in the driveway of a home in the 5000 block of South Saratoga Avenue.
Theft: An auto was broken into in the 200 block of Forest Hill Drive.
Assault: A water department employee was assaulted at a home in the 2000 block of Collingwood Drive.
Theft: A computer was stolen from an auto parked in the 5000 block of Nashua Drive.
Theft: Police said an employee from a heating and cooling business stole freon from an air-conditioning unit at a home in the 3000 block of Edinburgh Drive.
Identity theft: An account was opened with Ohio Edison using the victim’s identity at a home in the 4000 block of Burkey Road.
Criminal damaging: A vehicle was damaged and a passenger assaulted at state Route 46 and Seventy-Six Drive.
July 2
Arrest: Police charged Matthew Weatherholt, 20, of 25 Manchester Ave., Youngstown, with obstructing official business after his arrest in the 1000 block of North Meridian Road. He was released on a summons.
Arrest: Police charged Dustin Garcia, 28, of 3643 Johnson Court, Canfield, with obstructing official business after his arrest in the 3000 block of Meander Reserve Circle.
Warrant: Police issued a warrant to Anita Phlieger, 40, of 5178 Tippecanoe Road, Canfield, for sale of liquor to minors at Winston’s Tavern, 8870 N. Canfield-Niles Road.
Warrant: Police issued a warrant to Tammy Villars, 33, of 1153 McDonald Ave., McDonald, for a sale of liquor to minors at Brudder’s, 920 N. Canfield-Niles Road.
Warrant: Police issued a warrant which was changed from a summons for Donna Marino, 48, 415 W. Third St., Niles, for sale of liquor to minors at Pilot Travel Center, 1150 N. Canfield-Niles Road.
Warrant: Police issued a warrant to for Jason Byrd, 23, of 81 Leighton Ave., Boardman, for sale of liquor to minors at Certified Oil, 825 N. Canfield-Niles Road.
Telecommunications harassment: An unwanted male caller was reported at a home in the 3000 block of Burkey Road.
Burglary: A home in the 4000 block of Viall Road as broken into but nothing was taken.
Theft: Candy and cracker items were stolen at Sheetz gas station, 5499 Mahoning Ave.
Theft: A $2 bill was stolen at a home in the 700 block of Ohltown Road.
Recovered property: Numerous items were located at a home in the 5000 block of North Beacon Drive.
Recovered property: A 1994 Chrysler was recovered at the Phoenix House, 850 N. Meridian Road.
Burglary: A bicycle was stolen from a garage at a home in the 2000 block of Westminster Ave.
July 3
Arrest: Police charged Chad Kimble, 28, of 1152 Illinois Ave., Youngstown, with possession of marijuana after his arrest at Idlewood and North Raccoon roads.
Arrest: Police charged Robert Price, 32, of 4493 Mahoning Ave., for failure to appear and failure to reinstate. The arrest occurred in the 1000 block of South Raccoon Road.
Drug offense: Police charged Sheri M. Vaughn, 42, of 4860 Front St., Ravenna, with possession of marijuana after her arrest at state Route 46 and Webb Road.
Criminal damaging: A Droid cell phone and a PS3 were damaged at an apartment in the 800 block of Compass West apartments.
Theft: A cell phone was reported stolen at a home in the 4000 block of Plumbrook Drive.
Theft: A Sony Playstation was stolen at Walmart.
July 4
Arrest: Police charged Robert Hallas, 26, of 1100 Boardman-Canfield Road, with complicity to theft after his arrest at Walgreens, 3800 Tippecanoe Road.
Telecommunications harassment: An unidentified woman was making calls to a home in the 4000 block of Pembrook Road.
Criminal damaging: A vehicle rear window was broken out with rocks at a home in the 30 block of North Yorkshire Boulevard.
Felonious assault: Several gunshots were fired and two live rounds were located at a home in the 200 block of North Yorkshire Boulevard.
Criminal damaging: Two tires were slashed and a hubcap cracked at a home in the 10 block of Idlewood Road.
Theft: An Ohio license plate and an Fraternal Order of Police placard were stolen from an auto parked at Sav-A-Lot, 1715 S. Raccoon Road.
Breaking and entering: A 92-year-old victim reports having several items stolen over a period of time at his home in the 6000 block of Kirk Road.
