Our Lady of Mount Carmel Festival set to begin Monday

The Italian Fraternal Home will sponsor the annual Our Lady of Mount Carmel Festival from Monday through next Friday at the fraternal home grounds, 33 W. Wilson Ave.

The start of festivities will be preceded by a concert from 7 to 11 p.m. Sunday featuring Pete Shelby and the Blue Collar Band.

Food, concessions and games for children will be featured every night from 5 to 11 p.m.

Two bands will play Monday night with the Girard Community and Dixie Band from 5 to 7 p.m. and Cleveland Flats from 7:30 to 11 p.m.

Music on Tuesday will be provided by The Rage. Wednesday will feature D.J. Steve from 5 to 7 p.m. and the Frank Gallo Band from 7:30 to 11 p.m.. The First Degree will play from 7:30 to 11 p.m. Thursday.

On July 16, the Girard Community Swing Time Band will play from 5 to 7 p.m., followed by St. Margaret’s Blue Coat Band from 8 to 10:30 p.m.

The annual Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parade will start at the grounds at 10 a.m. next Friday and travel to St. Rose Church for an 11 a.m. Mass.

Ceremonies will take place starting at 1 p.m. at the Resurrection Cemetery on Raccoon Road in Austintown and Kerr Cemetery on Salt Springs Road in Weathersfield Township.

Fireworks at the Girard viaduct will end the festival at 11 p.m. next Friday.
