Corvette show benefits local leukemia patient

Neighbors | Submitted.Corvettes from the 2009 Annual Car Show at Greenwood Chevrolet in Austintown were displayed in order to help raise money for Mikey Howard, who was diagnosed with leukemia..This year's show will take place July 11 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the same location. Proceeds from the show will benefit Howard as well as the Hospice House. . .

The Mahoning Valley Corvettes and Greenwood Chevrolet will host their annual car show at Greenwood Chevrolet in Austintown July 11 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration begins at 9 a.m.

The show is open to all corvettes, antiques, customs, classics and hot rod cars. Food and beverages will be provided as well as prizes and trophies, goody bags to the first 100 cars, a 50/50 drawing, Chinese auction, music by Keen Geene, and a grand prize of $300.

Two $500 scholarships will be awarded. Donnie Allison and Taylor Pishotti are the recipients of the memorial scholarships.

Proceeds from the show benefit 5-year-old Mikey Howard, a local boy diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and Hospice House.

The goal is to provide the Hospice House with laptop computers for electronic medical records. The laptop computers will store and retrieve patient information, making the transition from hospital or home to the Hospice House quicker and more efficient.
