Pursuit ends with police fatally shooting suspect

WASHINGTON, Pa. (AP) — Police have shot and killed a suspect who led them on a chase.

Authorities say the unidentified man was behind the wheel of a white sedan being pursued by officers when he crashed in South Strabane Township, just outside Washington. The man fled on foot and began shooting at police, who returned fire, killing him.

State police Trooper Robin Mungo says there was a female passenger who also got out of the vehicle. Mungo did not have information on the woman’s condition but said she was not shot.

At least two police vehicles were damaged in the crash, but no officers were injured.

South Strabane Township police Chief Don Zofchak says the pursuit was drug-related.
