Prospective members invited to attend LAOH open house

YOUNGSTOWN

The Junior Division of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians is inviting prospective members to an open house at 5 p.m. July 30 at the AOH Hibernian Hall, 5110 Southern Blvd. New officers will be installed.

Membership in the division is open to Catholic girls 6 to 18 years-of-age who are Irish by descent or adoption. They will be asked to complete an application form at the meeting by contacting Lauren Kepley at 330-533-0918.

Annual dues are $2 and members are asked to donate 25 cents to missions at each meeting.

The goal of the organization is to promote friendship, unity and Christian charity. Each meeting focuses on an aspect of Irish culture.

Through special theme meetings, the members learn Irish history and traditions. They study famous Irish men and women in history, Irish saints and poets, and the music and ancient monuments in Ireland.

Each year the juniors are involved in the Mass at the Gathering of the Irish Clans Festival.

Connie Thompson is in charge of the Juniors’ scrapbook, which is submitted to the AOH-LAOH Convention for judging every two years.
