Local law enforcement marshals its forces to crack down on gun crimes in Mahoning Valley
YOUNGSTOWN — Federal, state and local law enforcement are teaming up to crack down on gun crimes in not only Youngstown, but throughout the Mahoning Valley.
Officials from various agencies announced the program today at a South Side playground. The agencies are working together to put additional officers on the streets of Youngstown and surrounding communities to supplement regular patrols.
They also will share information on criminal investigations and suspects as well as computer technology to target specific neighborhood crime hot spots.
“To those who illegally carry a gun, our message is simple: pack it at the risk of going to federal prison,” said Steven M. Dettelbach, U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Ohio.
