YWCA selects officers and issues honors
YOUNGSTOWN
YWCA of Youngstown conducted an election and bestowed special honors on several members during its 105th annual meeting.
Elected were Shirley Poindexter, president of the board of directors, Fran Curd, first vice president; Deborah S. Liptak, second vice president; Marilyn Burbick, treasurer, and Rhonda Warren, secretary. Re-elected to the board was Norma J. Stefanik, architect, Architectural Preservation Services.
Chosen to serve three-year terms as members of the board of directors were the following:
Elizabeth Hartwig, vice president/investments, Stifel Nicolaus, Butler Wick Division.
Cryshanna A. Jackson, assistant professor, political science and pre-law center at Youngstown State University.
Keisha T. Robinson, assistant professor, department of health professions at YSU.
Kera A. Thompson, perioperative business manager, surgical services, St. Joseph Health Center.
Named to the nominating committee for 2010-2011 were Susan M. Moorer, Rita Cintavey, June Ewing, Mary Lou Green, Stefanik, Mary Jo Truman and Cheryl L. Waite.
Recipients of special YWCA awards were Burbick, Board Member of the Year; Brenda Myers Cohen, Volunteer of the Year; and Laura Lee, Employee of the Year.
The mission of the YWCA movement is to eliminate racism and empower women by providing housing and supportive services, youth development and empowerment programs for women and families in the community.
