Wharmby advances in Class B playoffs

Wharmby Sports defeated Dave Sugar Excavating, 7-6, in 11 innings, on Tuesday night to win their first-round series in the Class B League at Cene Park.

Wharmby Sports advances to face No. 1 seed, 1080 Media.

David Saluga picked up the victory for Wharmby, pitching two scoreless inning of relief.

Tyler Gentile had four hits for Wharmby, including two doubles and a triple, while driving in two runs. Gentile drove home Jason Burkes with the winning run.

Nick Balsley had three hits and Burkes had two. Ron Deamicis added a double.

John McCormick led Sugar with three hits, including a double, while John Korpon had three hits and Jordan Izzo had a double.

Astro Falcons 9, Roth Brothers 3

Astro scored six runs in the first inning on Monday night.

Ron Sullivan picked up the win, pitching six innings, giving up two unearned runs on three hits, with 10 strikeouts. Jake Stahl led Astro with three hits, while Doug Bennett added two hits and two RBIs. Gerrod Rohan and John Beatty also had two hits each, and Kyle Allen hit a two-run double.

Matt Palo led Roth with two hits, while Anthony O’Nest had a double.

Wharmby 12, Sugar 6

Jim Dobran went 5 for 5, with two RBIs, to lead Wharmby in an eight-inning game on Monday. Jason Burkes had three hits, including a triple, and three RBIs, while David Saluga had two hits, including a triple as well, and two RBIs, and Tyler Gentile had a triple and single.

John Korpon led Sugar with two hits, including a triple, and three RBIs. Jordan Izzo and Cody Pitzo added two hits each.
