A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:
POLAND
June 30
Unauthorized use: A Bel Aire Lane woman reported her computer had been used without permission.
July 1
Arrest: Police stopped an erratic driver on Western Reserve Road and took into custody 29-year-old Tifany L. Griffith, 10532 Struthers Road, New Middletown, on a charge of operating a vehicle impaired. She was released on a summons.
Harassment: A report was filed from a residence in the 7900 block of Eastbrooke Trail.
July 2
Theft: A $15,000 diamond ring was stolen from a home in the 2100 block of Knollwood Drive.
BOARDMAN
July 1
Arrest: Authorities responded to an intoxicated person in the 100 block of Afton Avenue, then charged 56-year-old Norman J. Hageman, 236 Meadowbrook Ave., Boardman, with disorderly conduct while intoxicated and aggravated menacing of a police officer, a fifth-degree felony. Hageman threatened an officer with bodily harm, a report said.
Felonious assault: Beverly A. Lyda, 33, of 149 Forest Park Drive, Boardman, faced a charge after her boyfriend alleged that during an argument, Lyda struck his right leg with a hatchet. Police found the accuser bleeding in the affected area, they said.
Theft: Officers picked up 47-year-old Gerald R. Brown at his residence, 614 Mable Ave., Youngstown, on a warrant. He was accused of stealing 35 DVDs from Dollar General, 859 E. Midlothian Blvd.
Criminal damaging: Thirteen tree branches at a home in the 40 block of Mill Creek Drive were cut without permission.
Theft: Ashley S. Cash, 19, of Ros-well, Ga., was charged with stealing four bottles of perfume from Sears in the Southern Park Mall.
Theft: Leslie R. Dickey, 30, of 7045 Paxton Road, Boardman, was accused in the theft of six articles of clothing from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive, and released on a summons.
Domestic violence: Juan C. Irizarry, 32, of 98 Arlene Ave., Boardman, was charged with the crime after his wife alleged Irizarry had punched the back of her head during an argument. She was not injured, however.
Theft: Eleven articles of clothing and cosmetics were stolen from Walmart, resulting in a charge against 27-year-old Bethann M. Cestrone, 9110 North Lima Road, Poland.
Identity theft: A Sierra Madre Trail man found out someone had opened a utility account in his name without consent, and left a $222 balance.
Theft: A car stereo/TV was taken from a vehicle in the 400 block of Boardman-Poland Road.
Vandalism: A work van in the 1700 block of Alverne Drive had its paint scratched as well as its passenger side spray-painted.
Theft: Miscellaneous bills and change were removed from a car in the 60 block of Beechwood Drive.
Theft: Loose change was stolen from a vehicle in the 4200 block of Stratmore Road.
Criminal damaging: Two Stratmore Road residents reported their vehicles’ passenger-side windows smashed.
July 2
Counterfeit: A fake $50 bill was used to buy two pairs of children’s sandals at Payless Shoesource in the Southern Park Mall.
Harassment: A Tudor Lane woman said her estranged husband has been making unwanted calls.
Attempted fraud: A Walmart official told police of receiving a counterfeit $789 check in the latest of a series of such checks.
Endangerment: Officers charged 25-year-old Malena A. Pack, 4111 Glenwood Ave., with a misdemeanor count of endangering children after saying Pack claimed someone had taken her children. An investigation revealed the youngsters had been left alone in the apartment but were not harmed, a report showed.
Domestic violence: Authorities charged 21-year-old James N. Katz, 7421 West Blvd., Boardman, with two counts of domestic violence after his father and another family member alleged Katz had threatened to kill them and destroy the residence.
Theft: A man ordered more than $62 worth of food from the Blue Wolf Tavern, 1295 Boardman-Canfield Road, but failed to pay the bill.
Theft: Gina L. Dambrosi, 35, of 2075 Weir Road NE, Warren, and 36-year-old Amy L. Patterson, 229 Porter St. NE, Warren, were charged with stealing $568 worth of clothing from Macy’s.
Misuse of a credit card: A Brookwood Road man discovered his debit card had been used to make seven unauthorized purchases.
Auto theft: A 1994 Buick Century was stolen in the 5900 block of Youngstown-Poland Road.
Criminal damaging: A vehicle’s driver’s-side window was smashed in the 6700 block of Applewood Boulevard.
July 3
Robbery: After her food-stamp card was rejected at Rulli Bros., 8025 South Ave., a woman in her 50s reportedly pushed an employee who confronted her after the woman left without paying for $72 of groceries.
Theft by deception: A worker for Gloria Jeans Coffee in the Southern Park Mall reported a man stole $88 as part of a short-change scheme.
Theft: A back rest was taken from a motorcycle in the 1400 block of Boardman-Poland Road.
Arrest: A traffic stop on South Avenue led to the arrest of 26-year-old Larwell J. Hall, 2972 Oregon Ave., Youngstown, who was wanted on a warrant from Campbell.
Theft: Two New Castle, Pa., boys, 15 and 17, were charged with stealing two bottles of cologne from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall.
Theft: A man and a woman stole six tank tops from Dollar General, 859 E. Midlothian Blvd.
July 4
Theft: Two vehicles in the 7900 block of Aquadale Drive were entered before someone took an MP3 player, a global positioning system unit and a computer and related accessories, for an $800 loss.
Theft: A $300 GPS device was removed from a car on South Shore Drive.
Theft: Someone stole a $500 in-dash stereo from a vehicle at the Southern Park Mall.
Arrest: Police responded to a fight on Ferncliffe Drive and arrested 26-year-old Lawrence M. Conzett Jr., 191 Sexton St., Struthers, on a warrant from Mahoning County.
Arrest: Robert E. Hallas, 26, of 7577 Sierra Madre Trail, Boardman, was taken into custody after having been pulled over on U.S. Route 224. Hallas was wanted by Austintown police on a charge of complicity to theft.
July 5
Theft: A man reported his cell phone stolen while at a McClurg Road business.
Theft: A refrigerator and an electric stove were removed from an apartment in the 200 block of Mathews Road.
Burglary/auto theft: Someone entered a residence in the 4800 block of Erie Street, took a key and stole a 1999 Honda Accord.
Theft/criminal mischief: A ceramic yard decoration was stolen from a home in the 7100 block of Glendale Avenue. The homeowner also discovered someone had deliberately let the air out of a children’s blow-up swimming pool.
Domestic violence: A 15-year-old township girl was charged with the crime after her mother alleged her daughter had pulled her hair and kicked the accuser during an argument about the girl’s having sent someone a text message.
Theft: Kimberly Narkum, 43, of 1529 Medford Ave., Poland, was charged with deliberately failing to scan a package of diapers and a children’s toy at Walmart.
Theft: A $150 bicycle was stolen in the 100 block of Clifton Drive.
Theft: A vehicle’s front license plate was removed in the 2000 block of Wolosyn Circle.
Identity fraud: A Youngstown woman alleged her sister intentionally used the accuser’s information when arrested on a warrant in Boardman.
Domestic violence: A Struthers boy, 16, was charged after having been accused of pushing and punching a 5-year-old girl at an Oregon Trail residence.
