Fire damages Hubbard Township home

A “road find” puppy that Steve Brall, 46, rescued about five years ago returned the favor when he alerted his owner at about 1 a.m. Wednesday to smoke in the house. Brall said his dog, Bettis, a rottweiller-lab mix, pawed and barked at him to wake him up. They both escaped the residence at 3516 Roseview Road, Hubbard Township, which sustained extensive damage. Brall called 911 from a neighbor’s house.
Chief John Clemente said the call came in at about 1:40 a.m. and tankers from Coitsville and West Middlesex, Pa., assisted. It is believed a wayward cigarette started the fire.
Brall, who was treated at the scene for slight smoke inhalation, said Bettis will be a getting some steak dinners. The two are staying at his parents’ home.
