Day care volunteer facing molestation charges

GETTYSBURG, Pa. (AP) — A man is charged with molesting three girls at the day care center where he volunteered.

Adams County District Attorney Shawn Wagner says 46-year-old Raymond Messinger was arrested Tuesday. Investigators say Messinger molested an 8-year-old girl and two 7-year-olds while he volunteered at a day care center in Aspers, about 25 miles southwest of Harrisburg.

Wagner says Messinger admitted the abuse during an interview with investigators. He’s facing six counts of aggravated indecent assault and other charges.

Wagner says state police are trying to determine if the day care owner properly informed parents of the suspected abuse.

Messinger is jailed on $1 million bail.
