Trumbull fair sees rise in attendance

Staff report

Cortland

Nearly 60,000 people attended the Trumbull County Fair, which ended Sunday. That’s not a record, but fair officials told Vindicator partner WFMJ TV 21 that it’s 8,000 to 10,000 more visitors than last year.

Organizers attribute the increase in attendance to the good weather; not a drop of rain fell the entire fair week.

Members of the fair board told WFMJ they already are hoping they can get a repeat of this year’s weather next year.

In action at the fair, Austin Evans, a student at Lakeview Elementary Scool, won the Trumbull County Fair’s 2010 spelling bee.

The bee was sponsored by the Trumbull County Retired Teachers Association.

The other first-grade contestants were Brianna DiFabio, Michael McCartney, Nathan Kelly, R.J. Hall, Caitlin Kachurik and Jacob Zahoransky.
