REUNIONS | Former classmates plan to meet

Boardman High School Class of 1970 is preparing for a 40-year reunion celebration in August. The festivities will begin Aug. 6 with a banquet at the Boardman Holiday Inn, with registration at 5 p.m. A picnic will follow from 11 :30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 7 at the Elton Beard Cabin in Boardman Township Park. A catered lunch will be served at noon. Invitations were mailed in April, and classmates may call 330-783-3236 for more information.

The Boggess family reunion will take place from July 15-18 this year. Among those attending with her family will be the last grandchild of Oscar Dureth Boggess, Virginia Cheatham, who turned 91 on July 4. On July 16 at 5:30 p.m., the family will visit the Ohio historical marker for Boggess at Oak Hill Cemetery in Youngstown. A private Civil War encampment will take place from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in Canfield on July 17. The Boggess family helped found St. Andrewes AME Church, 521 W. Earle Ave., Youngstown, and on July 18 the family will gather there. The Youngstown committee consists of Bill Lawson, Steffon Wydell Jones and Stacey Adger. Chaney High School January and June Classes of 1948 will meet for lunch at 1 p.m. July 13 at Molly’s, 1309 Salt Springs Road, Youngstown. All alumni are invited.

Chaney High School Class of 1959 will meet for breakfast at 9:30 a.m. July 13 at Davidson’s Restaurant in Cornersburg. Classmates and spouses are welcome.

EW Bliss employees will have an annual reunion at 2 p.m. July 25 at Rainbow Lakes, Leetonia Road, Franklin Square. A covered dish is optional; beverages will be provided. The Haviland family will have a 115th reunion Saturday at Port Dover Kinsmen Park, in Port Dover, Ontario. Registration will be at 11 a.m. followed by a potluck buffet meal at noon in the pavilion. Hubbard High School Class of 1960 will meet at 4 p.m. Saturday at Frankie’s for dinner and to finalize reunion plans. Reservations are still being accepted for the three-day reunion weekend. Poland Seminary High School lass of 1965 will have its 45th reunion the weekend of July 30-Aug 1. Classmates and friends are welcome to gather at Rusty’s Southside Grill, 8586 South Av e., Boardman, at 4 p.m. July 30. The next day, there will be a tour of the old high school building on College Street from 11 a.m. to noon. Then lunch will be at Reserve Run Golf Course, 625 E. Western Reserve Road, Poland. The reunion buffet and cash bar will take place from 4-9 p.m. Saturday at the Holiday Inn in Boardman. Festivities will continue in the lounge. The cost is $40 per person for the dinner event. Warren G. Harding High School alumni have scheduled their 50th class reunion for Aug. 20 and 21 at Trumbull Country Club, 600 Golf Drive NE (off E. Market St.), Warren. A prereunion social will take place from 7 to 11 p.m. Aug. 20, with hors d’oeuvres and cash bar. Reservations are a must at $25 per person. DJ Ron Chick will play ’50s and ’60s music at The Big 50 reunion dinner on Aug. 21, which will be from 6-11 p.m. Reservations paid in advance are required at a cost of $45 per person. There will be a cash bar and fruit and cheese assortment. A class photo will be taken at 7 p.m., and $10 cash will be required when ordering.
