Hubbard pool plans its Summer Sizzler

HUBBARD

Hubbard Community Pool, 250 Hall Ave., is having its 6th annual Summer Sizzler at the pool from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday.

Swimming will be free, and children can enjoy a make-it, take-it craft. A Chinese auction is planned, and food for $1 will include rigatoni and meatballs, nachos and cheese, hot dogs, pizza and ice cream.

Proceeds from the event help with pool improvements.

Whole town involved in Kinsman yard sale

KINSMAN

Individuals and businesses in Kinsman will sponsor a townwide yard sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 17.

Free yard sale maps will be available at Market Square.

In conjunction with the event there will be an Amish bake sale on the square, and Rotarians will serve barbecued chicken dinners at Town Park, just south of the town.

Valley fund rocks for epilepsy awareness

AUSTINTOWN

Mahoning Valley Fund Inc. is sponsoring Rocking for Epilepsy Awareness and Support from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 24 at Cracker Barrel, where volunteers will rock on the front porch during the day to raise epilepsy awareness.

Community businesses, families, friends, clubs and organizations will sponsor rocking chairs.

Live entertainment, raffles and refreshments will accompany the event.

Participants are given information on first aid for seizures, signs and symptoms of epilepsy, and statistics on the prevalence and seriousness of the disorder. Those who are diagnosed with epilepsy will be on hand to discuss what life is like with the disorder.

The name of sponsors will be displayed on a rocker and in the booklet that is being prepared for the event.
