1080 nabs top seed in Class B playoffs

1080 Media used a balanced attack to defeat Youngstown Express 7-3 in each teams’ regular season finale in a Class B game on Sunday at Cene Park.

Will Frazier picked up the victory for 1080 (25-2), which is the top seed in the playoffs and has a first-round bye.

Frazier went six strong innings, giving up three runs on six hits, while striking out six and walking three.

Dan Popio led the way for 1080 with two hits, including a triple, two runs scores and two runs batted in. Justin Vrabel had two hits, a run scored and an RBI while Anthony Raschilla had a hit and drove in three runs.

Joe Markovitch had two hits, an RBI, and a run scored while Sean Mancino and Mark Calautti had a hit and a run scored for Express.

OTN Performance 9, Roth Brothers 1

Brent Messett pitched a complete game in the victory for OTN. Messett gave up one unearned run on only three hits, two walks, and five strike outs. Gary Revale led the way for OTN with three hits, including a double, two runs batted in and scored a run. Zac Anderson had two hits, including a triple, and two runs batted in while Messett had two hits and scored a run.

Ben Angelo took the loss for Roth, which is the tournament’s fifth seed. Matt Harmon had a hit and scored a run.

Rondinelli 10, Action Physical Therapy 7

Phil Hall picked up the win for Rondinelli, which earned the second seed and a first-round bye. Hall went five innings while surrendering four runs on six hits, three walks, and four strikeouts.

Adam Shrodek led the attack for Rondinelli with three hits and two runs batted in. Chris Leiby had two hits, including a triple, two RBIs, and two runs scored. Jake Double added a triple and two runs scored for Rondinelli.

Cody Kirk led Action with three hits, a run scored and an RBI. Mike Werner had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs while Matt Corner added two hits and a run scored.

Wharmby Sports 8, Livi Steel 5

Jason Burkes picked up the win in relief for Wharmby, pitching three scoreless innings. Tyler Gentile came on and pitched two scoreless innings for the save.

Burkes led the way for Wharmby also with two hits, including a double, two runs batted in and a run scored.

Jim Dobran had two hits as well, including a double and a run scored. Gentile helped his own cause with a hit and two RBIs while David Saluga had a hit, an RBI and two runs scored for the Wharmby cause. Ed Rovnak was stuck with the loss for Livi.

Josh Davis had two hits, including a triple, an RBI and a run while Dante Dilbane and Taylor Callahan added two hits, an RBI and a run for Livi.
