Residency in pediatrics
Sofia Szari, a native of Poland, has received her medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, attaining an excellent class rank.
Dr. Szari will begin a pediatric residency in July in a combined program at Dayton Children’s Hospital and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, where she is serving as a captain in the Air Force.
She was a valedictorian of Poland Seminary High School‘s Class of 2001. She also has a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering mechanics, graduating summa cum laude and ranking in the top three of 279 students in her class.
While enrolled in the University of Cincinnati Dual Admissions Program, she performed cardiothoracic research on fetal sheep during a paid role in the Cardiothoracic Surgery Research Department at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.
The daughter of Joseph and Diane Varacalli of Poland, Dr. Szari and her husband, Lucas, live in Dayton with their two children, Lucas Anthony, 4, and Selah Rose, 10 months.
Medical resident
Lisa Stempak, daughter of Mark and Rosemary Stempak, granddaughter of Andy and Betty Stempak and the late Ralph and Bertha Fabrizio, graduated June 4 from the University of Toledo College of Medicine. She will complete a medical residency in pathology at University Hospitals Case Medical Center, Cleveland.
She is a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School and John Carroll University.
Fellowship in surgery
Lauren E. Donatelli- Seyler, formerly of Lowellville, has completed her residency in general surgery at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit.
A 1996 graduate of Lowellville High School, Dr. Donatelli-Seyler received her bachelor of science degree in biology from Youngstown State University in 2000 and her doctor of osteopathy degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2005.
Dr. Donatelli-Seyler completed her internship at Henry Ford Health System and was named Intern of the year for 2006-07. She also served as Chief Surgical Resident at Henry Ford in 2009-10.
Dr. Donatelli-Seyler will be continuing on to a fellowship in Acute Care Surgery (trauma, emergency general surgery and surgical critical care) at University Medical Center of Southern Nevada, affiliate of UNLV in Las Vegas, Nev.
Lauren is the daughter of Bobbi and Jay Donatelli of Lowellville and is married to Clarke Seyler of Poland.
LAWYERS
Graduate of law school
William L. Bartos of Poland has graduated with his law degree from the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law.
Bartos is a 2003 graduate of Poland Seminary High School. He graduated in 2007 from Mount Union College, where he studied political science.
He is the son of Larry and Barbara Bartos of Poland.
