Singled out for recognition at the May meeting of Warren Junior Women’s League/GFWC at McMenamy’s in Niles was Molly L. Halliday, who was honored as the club’s 2009-2010 Woman of the Year in recognition of her volunteerism and achievements during the club year.

Halliday joined the club as a provisional member in 2008 and within one year was chairwoman of the conservation federated committee and coordinator of the club’s publicity.

Under the leadership of Halliday, the conservation committee received two awards at the annual GFWC/OFWC State Convention in April in Columbus. It captured first place awards in the beautification and resource conservation categories. The community improvement gardening project at the Warren Family Mission’s Hannah House in Vienna also received first place honors.

At the meeting several other members were recognized for years of service with WJWL/GFWC and with the GFWC/OFWC Northeast District and the Ohio Federation of Women’s Club. Those honored and their years of service were: Shelby McElravy, 25; Carol Batchelder, 20; Jennifer Wyndham, 15; and Peggy Boyd, Renee Maiorca, Karen Margala and Pam Vines, 10.
