Proposed cuts

The Mahoning County Board of Elections will consider various budget cuts Tuesday. Here are some of the key proposed reductions and estimated savings for each:

Lay off two employees: $38,028.

Reduce the hourly salary of part-timers from $9 to $8: $3,880.

Mandatory one day off without pay every two weeks for full-time workers: $4,576.

Eliminate color copies: $2,800.

Employees pay more of their retirement contributions: $9,229.

Reduce number of voting precincts. Eliminate 29 precincts: $20,300. Eliminate 14 precincts: $9,800.
