YOUNGSTOWN

Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of a woman charged with hitting her 84-year-old Cornersburg neighbor on his head with his cane in his apartment and robbing him of $1,000 on June 25.

Police are seeking Belinda Kennedy, whose last known address was on Flo-Lor Drive, who is charged with robbery and listed on the police report as being between the ages of 40 and 44, white, 5 feet 7 inches tall, with brown hair and weighing about 200 pounds.

The victim, who lives on Canfield Road, told police a woman, known to him only as Belinda, came to his apartment about 3 a.m., and asked him for money, at which time he gave her $30.

The woman knocked again at his apartment door 90 minutes later, asking to use the restroom, and he admitted her, the victim told police. After she emerged from the rest-room, he told police he refused her request for an additional $50.

The wo-man, later identified as Kennedy, became irate, grabbing the wooden cane from the table, striking him on his head and left hand, and grabbing a dark blue, zippered cloth bag containing $1,000 before fleeing, the victim said.

Police observed a large lump on the victim’s forehead and his bruised and cut left hand, but the victim refused a police offer to call an ambulance, police said.

Detective Sgt. Donald P. Scott of the city police department asks anyone with information as to Kennedy’s whereabouts to call the police department at 330-742-8929.

“Be careful who you open your door for. Look through the peephole,” Scott advised area residents.
