POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Hubbard and Liberty:

GIRARD

June 29

Burglary: To an apartment in the 1100 block of North Highland Avenue, though nothing appeared to be missing.

Breaking and entering: An oil furnace, a hot-water heater and three other items were stolen from a residence in the 600 block of Tibbetts Wick Road someone had entered through a rear door. The loss came to $2,050.

June 30

Criminal damaging: At least three tables were broken and several canopies were destroyed at a produce stand in the 100 block of South State Street.

Burglary: Occurred in the 900 block of Patricia Drive. Stolen were two computers and numerous pieces of jewelry.

July 1

Identity fraud: A Jones Court woman found out her identity had been fraudulently used to obtain a utility account.

HUBBARD

June 25

Arrest: Youngstown authorities handed Douglas Bair, no information given, to Hubbard police. Bair was wanted on charges of disrupting public services and inducing panic.

Possible fraud: A Scott Street man reported his juvenile daughter received a suspicious $2,200 check in the mail.

Possible fraud: A Mackey Street woman discovered that an unfamiliar person wrote and mailed a check to her.

June 26

Arrest: Authorities took custody of Joseph Bendekovich, 534 S. Main St., Hubbard, who was wanted on two counts of felonious assault. Bond was set at $50,000.

June 28

Menacing: A West Liberty Street man told police of receiving a threatening letter.

Arrest: Youngstown police had custody of Joseph N. Greer, no information provided, who was wanted on a warrant from Hubbard.

LIBERTY

June 25

Theft: A check card was stolen from a residence in the 2500 block of Fifth Avenue.

Theft: Boardman police handed 25-year-old Jason Womack, 151 Lucius Ave., Youngstown, to township authorities. He was wanted on a warrant.

June 26

Drug paraphernalia: Police responded to suspicious activity near Lamplighter Road, then issued a summons to 42-year-old Ray Minniti Jr., 2110 Pinehurst Circle, Girard, after saying he had a device commonly used to smoke marijuana.

Weapon: A woman reported that a 19-year-old Campbell man who came to her township residence to search for someone had a handgun that she removed. The man left and no one was injured, a report said.

Breaking and entering: Someone broke into a barn in the 6400 block of Sodom-Hutchings Road and removed a weed trimmer and a leaf blower.

Theft: Two Youngstown women, 18 and 19, were accused in, but not charged with, the theft of $89 worth of clothing and decorative items from Walmart, 200 Goldie Road.

Theft: Walmart officials detained a Youngstown man, 27, who was released after $114 of merchandise had been stolen from the store.

Theft: Charges were pending against a Youngstown boy, 13, and a 14-year-old Reynoldsburg, Ohio, boy accused in the theft of $77 in merchandise from Walmart.

Breaking and entering: Someone entered a garage in the 6600 block of Sodom Hutchings Road and took a portable generator, a welder and an 18-inch saw, for an estimated loss of $2,250.

Domestic violence: Domanika L. Thomas-Ferguson, 18, of 3053 Hadley Ave., Liberty, was charged with the crime after a family member alleged she had struck him in the face during an argument, something police said she admitted.

Counterfeit: Davon L. Johnson, 24, of 820 Lakewood Ave., Youngstown, faced a felony criminal-simulation charge after being accused of trying to cash a phony $945 check at Walmart.

June 27

Domestic violence: Officers responded to a fight in the 100 block of Laurel Street, then charged 36-year-old Ronald A. Fellows, 21 S. Randolph St., Girard, with the crime after a family member alleged that Fellows struck her face as she tried to break up the fight. Also taken into custody was Lisa A. Conway, 43, of 481 Laurel, who was wanted on a warrant from Trumbull County.

Domestic violence: Authorities responded to a disturbance at a Crumrine Avenue home, then charged 27-year-old Roy Bratton, 1607 Crumrine, Liberty, after his girlfriend alleged he had struck, bitten and choked her. Bratton also faced vandalism, resisting-arrest and drug-related charges when, officers said, he became combative with police and was found with three syringes and suspected drug contraband.

June 28

Burglary: Took place in the 100 block of Laurel Street after someone had kicked in a rear door. A cash box and $300 were taken.

Criminal damaging: A Trumbull Court woman said her former boyfriend kicked and damaged a door to her home.

Pursuit: Charges were pending against a 37-year-old Youngstown man who police said led them on a vehicular and foot chase after they tried to pull him over near Belmont Avenue.

Breaking and entering: To a garage in the 1400 block of Mount Everett Road, from which an 8,500-watt generator and other equipment was stolen, for a $3,730 loss.

Theft: A worker for a Belmont Avenue business reported the theft of her wallet.

June 29

Fraud: A Logan Arms Drive man told officers he gave two men $1,000 for tree-trimming services, then discovered the money missing and that the work was never done.

Breaking and entering: Someone stole a toolbox and two 12-inch miter saws from a garage in the 1400 block of Mount Everett Road.

June 30

Menacing: A mail carrier reported an irate North Gate Road resident threatened several times to strike him in the head.

Theft: An employee of a Trumbull Avenue business learned that someone had used checking-account information without permission to pay a $138 Ohio Edison Co. bill.
