Newest band members try out instruments

Neighbors | Shaiyla Hakeem .Boardman's Emma Knickerbocker received her first instrument at the middle school Instrument Fair June 21. She chose the trombone because her mother played it when she was younger.

Boardman Middle School band sponsored its second annual Beginner Early Start Program and Instrument Fair June 21 for incoming fifth-graders.
The night allowed student and parents to ask questions about the music program and purchase or rent a musical instrument. Boardman’s Motter’s Music and Cortland’s Day Break Music and Entertainment were present to sell instruments and music supplies.
A free group music lesson was given to each musical section. Students who were undecided on what instrument to choose were able to practice on different instruments to see which they liked most.
All fifth-graders who participated in the instrument fair received a free middle school band T-shirt. The next and final instrument fair will be July 12 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boardman High School.
