Ex-cop charged in Ohio with stealing from elderly

CLEVELAND (AP) — A former officer who served time for stealing from his West Virginia police department has been charged in Cleveland with stealing thousands of dollars from mentally disabled clients.

A Cuyahoga County grand jury this week returned an indictment charging 33-year-old Shane Snuffer of Fairview Park with 28 counts of aggravated theft.

He allegedly stole the money while working as a private agency supervisor handling accounts of mentally disabled clients.

He pleaded guilty in 2002 to taking federal funds meant for hiring more Cedar Grove, W.Va., police officers and in 2003 pleaded guilty to credit card fraud.

Snuffer doesn’t have a phone listing at his address and could not be reached for comment Friday. Court records don’t list an attorney.
