Hundreds greet new YSU president Anderson

YOUNGSTOWN — About 500 people turned out at Youngstown State University this morning to welcome incoming President Cynthia E. Anderson to her first day on the job.

“I cannot believe this. I cannot believe this,” Anderson said, as she addressed them in an outdoor setting in front of Tod Hall. She then invited everyone inside for some refreshments, greeting each person as they came through the door.

“Today absolutely does begin a new era,” Anderson said, calling on the campus community to focus more than ever on student success.

Those students chose to come to YSU, and, “we have an obligation to them,” she said.
