YOUNGSTOWN

The National Safety Council, Northern Ohio Chapter, 25 E. Boardman St. Suite 343 in the Ohio One Building, is offering several emergency care courses. Preregistration is required. Call 330-747-8657. The courses are:

CPR/AED Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillator Course: Adult/Child/Infant (2-year certificate), July 14, 8 a.m. to noon, fee is $32.

Standard First Aid (3 year certificate): July 14, 1 to 4 p.m., cost is $32.

Bloodborne/Airborne Pathogens Course (1-year certificate): July 14, 4 to 6 p.m., fee is $32.

AHA – ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support Recertification: July 16, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., fee is $50.

Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support, Initial or Refresher (2-year certification): July 16, 1 to 4:30 p.m., fee is $50 for initial, $32 for refresher.

Immunization clinic

GIRARD

The well-child immunization clinic will be offered July 14 at 11 a.m. in the Girard Health Department located in the City Building. A $5 administrative fee will be charged per child. Parents are reminded to bring a copy of the child’s immunization record. A parent or guardian must accompany children under age 18. Parents must preregister child before the clinic. Call Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at 330-545-6048.

Art exhibition

HERMITAGE, PA.

Lilly Oncology on Canvas, an art exhibition honoring the journeys traveled by millions of people affected by cancer worldwide, will be on display July 12 through 24 at the Womancare Center of UPMC Horizon, 875 N. Hermitage Road.

Lilly Oncology on Canvas began in 2004 as an international art competition for those whose lives had been touched by women’s cancers. People were invited to use art as a means of expressing the struggles and successes in battling this disease.

Diabetes series

YOUNGSTOWN

A three-week Dining with Diabetes series of classes is offered July 14, 21 and 28 from 12:30 to 3 p.m. at the Senior Independence Center, 1110 Fifth Ave.

The series, open to diabetics, their family members and caretakers, is sponsored by the Ohio State University Extension in Mahoning County and Forum Health/Diabetes Help.

The cost is $30. Preregistration is required by July 12. Call 330-533-5538.

Community day

HUBBARD

Sharon Regional Health System’s Hubbard Diagnostic & Specialty Center will host a Community Appreciation Day on July 11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the center’s parking lot at 880 West Liberty St.

The event will feature free face painting and other kids activities, music from the Hubbard Chorale, free balloons, free blood-pressure screenings, St. Pat’s car raffle, food from Frankie’s Main Street Cafe in Hubbard, free-throw shooting contest, putting contest and a number of other family activities. Those attending can register for a family getaway and other prizes.

The HCIA (Hubbard Christians in Action) will conduct a food drive during the event and encourages those attending to donate canned goods and/or dry food items to benefit area families.
