Flora Cafaro of the Cafaro Family Foundation presented a $100,000 check to the OH WOW! The Roger & Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science & Technology in the historic McCrory’s Department Store on Central Square downtown.

The donation, made Tuesday, will support the center’s “Science Makes Cents” capital campaign.

Bruce Sherman, campaign chairman, said, “The Cafaro Family Foundation has provided financial support to hundreds of educational and faith-based institutions throughout the United States for many years, helping children and their families to be safe and successful.

“We are proud to call them our neighbor and appreciate the foundation’s significant investment in our campaign.”

Sherman added the foundation’s investment brings the campaign total to $1.4 million.

The center’s mission is to foster independent thinking and the promotion of excellence in academic performance in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Sherman added, “We will be the premier STEM-based hands-on, interactive children’s museum in Northeast Ohio and Western Pennsylvania.”
