Music at noon concerts will be at the Butler

YOUNGSTOWN — Youngs-town State University Dana School of Music will present Music at Noon performances in February at the Butler Institute of American Art, 524 Wick Ave.

Performances will be at 12:15 p.m. each Wednesday, beginning this week.

The concerts are free to the public. Parking is free at the Butler.

The schedule:

Wednesday: string department, chamber music recital.

Feb. 10: choral ensembles.

Feb. 17: percussion ensemble.

Feb. 24: New Music Society.

Murder-mystery theater at Montessori

YOUNGSTOWN — The Montessori School of the Mahoning Valley is hosting “A Wedding to Die For!,” an interactive murder-mystery dinner-theater. Tickets are $45 for this adults-only event, which will be Saturday at The Byzantine Center at the Grove, 3801 Shady Run Road. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with dinner served at 7 p.m. The entree will be chicken cordon bleu. There will also be a traditional wedding cookie table and a cash bar.

Dance concert slated for the Lemon Grove

YOUNGSTOWN — U.N. Act production company will present “Shock and Awe,” a dance concert featuring Brandon Martin, at 9 p.m. Saturday at the Lemon Grove, 122 W. Federal St., downtown.

The event will include a mix of music and dance. Other performers will include Robyn DePaul, Tribe Of Eos, Rocco (from Modern Life) and more.

Admission is $5 at the door.

Polish carnival includes imported drinks, music

YOUNGSTOWN — Ostatki: A Polish Carnival Celebration will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Youngstown Club, 201 E. Commerce St. The event will feature imported vodka and beer tasting, appetizers, games, door prizes, live music, dancing and paczki, a Polish pastry. Tickets are $30 in advance and $40 at the door. Warren Philharmonic plans gala fundraiser

WARREN — The Warren Philharmonic Orchestra will have a gala event titled “Sweets, Magic and Music” at 6 p.m. March 4 in the Hippodrome Grand Ballroom, 150 High St., N.E. Tickets are $35 and can be purchased by calling (330) 399-3606. The event will include magicians, and music by members of the WPO. Hors d’oeuvres and desserts will be featured.

“Sweets, Magic and Music” is the second in a series of social events to benefit the WPO.

The orchestra’s next concert will be March 27 at Christ Episcopal Church, 2627 Atlantic St. N.E. The Westminster College Festival Chorus will accompany the WPO on Bach’s Cantata 191 (“Gloria in Excelsis Deo”). Ballet Western Reserve dancers will perform with the orchestra on Ives/Schuman’s “Variations on America.”

Tickets to the concert are $24 ($21 for seniors; children under 13 are admitted free) and can be obtained by calling the WPO office at (330) 399-3606.

Production company to open new studio

WARREN — The Trumbull Senior Production Company will mark the grand opening of its new studio at 3323 Parkman Road N.W. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2 p.m. Saturday.

The public is invited, and will be able to tour the facility.
