Henderson’s murder trial postponed

STAFF REPORT

WARREN — The aggravated murder trial of Eugene Henderson, 25, of Warren, accused of killing Lloyd McCoy Jr., 11, and Marvin Chaney, 26, on Wick Street Southeast early last year, has been pushed back from Monday to May 17.

Henderson’s attorney, John Fowler, asked for more time to obtain an expert witness to assist in Henderson’s defense. It is not known what type of witness Fowler will try to secure, but a pretrial hearing is set for Thursday for further discussion of the matter.

Judge John M. Stuard of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court previously allowed Fowler to hire an investigator and a DNA expert — both at state expense.

An alleged accomplice, Eugene Cumberbatch, 26, of Warren, was convicted of complicity to aggravated murder in September and sentenced to 38 years to life in prison.
