FBI brought in to help solve Fimognari murder

YOUNGSTOWN — City police are still investigating the murder of an elderly woman at a South Side church, but are getting a little help with forensic elements in the case.

Capt. Rod Foley, chief of detectives, said the department has elicited help from the FBI in analyzing forensics associated with the shooting of 80-year-old Angeline Fimognari in the parking lot of St. Dominic Church, 77 E. Lucius Ave.

Foley said leads in the case are still coming in and police are looking at each of those leads as they arrive.

“There are a few more persons of interest that we are looking at in the last 24 hours, but no one is being considered as a suspect in the case at this point,” Foley said.

The city and Crime Stoppers have joined forces in offering a $10,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the murder. Call Crime Stoppers at (330) 746-CLUE or the police department at (330) 747-7911.
