One Step to Life Inc. offers free tax services

YOUNGSTOWN — One Step to Life Inc. is offering free tax services to anyone whose annual household income is less than $56,000.

Individuals should bring the following documents to their appointment:

USocial Security numbers for individual and dependents

UW2s, 1099s and 1098s

UInformation about all sources of income

UDeduction and credit information, such as child-care expenses, tuition and union dues

UCopy of last year’s tax return, if available

One Step to Life Inc. also offers assistance with children’s health insurance, home-energy assistance, child-care subsidies and food assistance.

The office is located at 238 S. Meridian Road. The site is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

South Ave. initiative plans Thursday meeting

YOUNGSTOWN — The South Avenue Area Neighborhood Development Initiative will have a community partners and steering committee meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Visiting Nurses Association, 518 E. Indianola Ave.

Individuals from block watches, churches, schools, businesses and social-service agencies as well as real-estate investors are working together to identify the needs of the people, businesses and institutions in the SAANDI area.

The group’s goal is to create sustainable neighborhoods that offer a healthy and higher quality of life by revitalizing 27 streets.

SAANDI encompasses the streets from East Avondale to Interstate 680 along the South Avenue Corridor.

The block watches in partnership are from South Avenue, Gibson Heights, Taft School Area and Lansingville.

Clean Energy Network

WARREN — John Cesta and Marvin Shevel from Best Furnace Co. in Champion are the main speakers for a Clean Energy Network meeting from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in Room 117 of the Kent State University Trumbull Campus Technology Building, 4314 Mahoning Ave., Champion.

The meeting is open to the public.

Cesta and Shevel will discuss what is required to use a geothermal system for heating and cooling.

They also will explain available energy tax credits and other incentives. Cesta and Shevel have installed geothermal systems for many years.

A question/answer session will follow.
