Oakland’s open mic at the Lemon Grove
YOUNGSTOWN — The Oakland Center for the Arts will have The Stage, its monthly open mic night, at the Lemon Grove, 122 W. Federal St., at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Pre-registration and performer set-up will be from 7-8 p.m. Admission is $5, which includes an adult beverage. There will also be a raffle for an original Nintendo game system, including controllers and about 20 original games. All proceeds benefit the Purple Cat/ISLE.
Hosted by Brooke Slanina and Matt Liller, this month’s stage will include featured act SickAsMe as well as local comedians, authors, actors, artists and singers. Night of Irish Music will include dancers
SHARON, Pa. — The 10th annual Night of Irish Music will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph’s social hall, 79 Case Ave. Admission is free.
In addition to local and regional Irish musicians and singers, dancers from the Burke School of Irish Dance will be featured as well as the Veterans Memorial Pipe Band.
Food and beverages will be available, and vendors will sell Irish wares.
The event is sponsored by Sons of Erin Division of the A.O.H., in conjunction with the St. Brigid’s Division of the L.A.O.H. and the Sharon Knights of Columbus.
Singing competition seeks participants
GREENVILLE, Pa. — The Greenville Symphony Orchestra is seeking competitors for an individual amateur vocal talent competition.
Auditions will be Feb. 13 at Thiel College. Semifinal auditions will be March 27 and final auditions will be April 23. The semifinals and finals are open to the public.
There are three categories for the competition: ages 10 to 16; ages 17 to 25; and 26 and over.
Prizes will be awarded in each age group. The prize package includes: cash or savings bond; one hour of sound studio time toward the production of a CD; an invitation to sing with the Greenville Symphony Orchestra; four tickets to Kennywood amusement park; and an invitation to sing on the Kennywood stage during Celebrate America Week in July.
