Man indicted on theft charges again
The man was convicted of theft in 2003 and last September.
STAFF REPORT
WARREN — Robert P. Mild, the former chief financial officer for Kirila Contractors of Brookfield, who was convicted in 2003 on charges of aggravated theft, money laundering and attempted money laundering charges, has been indicted on new charges.
Mild, 42, of 7090 Stewart- Sharon Road in Brookfield, will be arraigned in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court on Feb. 1 on charges of grand theft and passing bad checks.
He was also indicted on the same two charges as statutory agent for his company, Aries Resources, General Contrator, LLC, of the Stewart-Sharon address.
Major Thomas Stewart of the Trumbull County sheriff’s office said the new charges stem from allegations that Mild hired the company KGM of Munster, Ind., to perform drywall and painting at the Southlake Mall in Hobart, Ind., at a fee of $99,000, wrote a check for $45,000, but there was no money in the account, and KGM was never paid.
If convicted on the new charges, Mild could spend up to 18 months in prison on each.
Mild was convicted in September on a first-degree misdemeanor theft charge and placed on probation for one year, according to Central District Court in Cortland. Stewart said that case related to Mild’s tapping into natural-gas wells in Brookfield.
Mild was ordered to pay restitution of $791,514 in November 2003 to Kirila Contractors and spend six months in the Warren Alternative Sentencing Program for thefts he committed against the company. He was also ordered to surrender his certified-public-accountant license.
Authorities said he used Kirila Contractors’ money to buy numerous parcels of land, several houses, 17 stocks, three gas and oil wells and 13 vehicles.
