Austintown Board of Education member David Schnurrenberger is no stranger to Austintown Township.

As a lifetime resident of 61 years, he has seen the development in Austintown’s schools and community.

Schnurrenberger is following in his grandfather’s footsteps, Joseph Schnurrenberger, who was Austintown’s first school board president. His father was also an active participant in the Austintown school systems.

As a 1967 graduate of Austintown Fitch, Schnurrenberger has compiled knowledge over the years on how the school system has changed. He also has had the opportunity to experience decisions pertaining to the school system that were successful and also not so successful.

Schnurrenberger believes it is important to prepare students for the world that awaits them upon graduation. One way to prepare students for the road ahead is through academic advancement.

“We need to maintain and improve academics in our schools, to ensure an opportunity for a quality education and prepare our students for the future,” Schnurrenberger said.

A strong support system is important in the eyes of Schnurrenberger. He believes that is imperative for a community to support its children by getting involved and staying informed.

According to Schnurrenberger, the school system is dedicated on all levels of employment which increases the quality of education. Austintown already possesses great qualities, but Schnurrenberger wants to make sure that the current qualities won’t dissolve over time.

“We are a school system and community of traditions, excellence and respect,” Schnurrenberger said.

Doing what’s best for the students is No. 1 on Schnurrenberger’s priority list. He says that by working together, communicating regularly and providing positive images, Austintown will continue to move forward.

Schnurrenberger was sworn in on Jan. 12 and he says that he will perform to the best of his ability.

“Serving on the Austintown School Board will be a rewarding experience in which I will be committed to do my best,” said Schnurrenberger.
