2 men arrested in aggravated burglary

STAFF REPORT

WARREN — Two men were arrested Wednesday afternoon in the Giant Eagle parking lot on Mahoning Avenue and charged with aggravated burglary, accused of breaking into an elderly woman’s house in the 2700 block of Tod Avenue Northwest and taking several boxes of jewelry.

Arrested and held in Trumbull County Jail are Ralph Underwood, 20, of Maryland Street Northwest, and DeVincent C. Lowery, 18, of Peerless Avenue Southwest. Both will be arraigned in Warren Municipal Court today.

Two men broke into the house at a little before noon while the resident was asleep. Neighbors reported a robbery in progress and told police they had seen the suspects at the Giant Eagle.

A police officer spotted Underwood and Lowery walking through the parking lot. One of the two tried to elude the officer by ducking between parked cars, a Warren police report said.

Another officer assisted, and both men were arrested.

Officers could not initially locate a backpack that witnesses said was used by the men, but a customer later came to the police station to turn in a backpack that he found in the back of his pickup truck that contained jewelry matching the description of the jewelry taken from the victim’s house.
