Browns Backers help the needy

LAKE MILTON — As a result of its food and toy drive on Dec. 19 at the Dutch House, Lake Milton Browns Backers were able to provide 28 families with food baskets and toys during the holidays.

The event began with the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus, who gave the children coloring books, cookies and sodas, and ended with each family receiving a turkey, food basket and presents for their children.

Contributing to the success of the drive were the Olde Dutch Mill Golf Course, Utility Contracting, El Carlo’s Restaurant, Westfall’s Family Restaurant and the Fat Man Club.

During the past three years, the Backers have sponsored events that have resulted in nearly $10,000 in donations to the community.

The next event will be an Easter egg hunt at 1 p.m. March 27 at the golf course. For more information on the club or upcoming events, call (330) 654-4100.
