Man found shot dead in the snow in Warren

WARREN — A Detroit man accused of drug trafficking on West Market Street in September was killed Tuesday night in a gun battle in the back yard of a house, where a confrontation with alleged drug dealers took place last week.

Warren police identified the dead man as Michael A. Travis, 30. His body was found in the snow at about 10:20 p.m. at the back of a house divided into several apartments at 355 Washington St. N.E.

It is the same home where Eric Collins, 31, who lives there, confronted three men one week earlier. Collins said he told the men to “move along” because he believed they were there to sell drugs — a common problem he’s been battling there for more than a year.
